Introducing the new data set and its applications

Washington, DC - October 20, 2009: -- USAID's Office of Economic Growth and the Fiscal Reform and Economic Governance project hosted a launch event to roll out the 2008/09 edition of the project's Collecting Taxes data system. This interactive database enables USAID officers and the Agency's host-country partners to do rapid assessments or self-assessments of the strengths and weaknesses of their revenue mobilization and tax administration systems, and help to identify possible needed areas for technical assistance. You can access the system at www.collectingtaxes.net.

Mark Gallagher presented the background and methodology behind the Collecting Taxes system as well as demonstrated some ways the system has been applied in tax system analysis and reform around the world. Steve Rozner then gave a quick tour of the website and highlighted some of its new features.
