This page is dedicated to sharing knowledge about innovations in taxation, particularly innovations that have helped to reduce taxpayer compliance burdens or improve the ability of tax administrations to better collect taxes and serve their clientele.  This initiative was stimulated by a paper prepared by Mark Gallagher and Arturo Jacobs, "Lowering Taxpayer Compliance Costs," describing how creative and cutting-edge practices have helped tax authorities collect taxes more efficiently while reducing the administrative burdens faced by taxpayers.  That paper is published in Developing Alternatives, Volume 13, Issue 1, Winter 2009.

Practitioners, scholars, and consultants are invited to submit their own brief narratives of innovations in taxation that have helped ease the burden of tax compliance and improve tax administration efficiency, so that we can share these experiences by posting them on this site.  Submissions should explain the innovation, how the author came to know of the innovation (for instance, you implemented the innovation or provided advice on implementing it), tell us when the innovation was introduced, and the benefits the innovation has yielded for taxpayers and tax administrations.  Submissions should be concise, not exceeding one page, and should include the author’s name.
